Bounceback!

No sign of a letdown for the Pioneers today in an impressive 35-7 victory over a young, struggling Georgetown team.

Rushing touchdowns by Mike Karavetsos and Kyle McGah and passing TD's from Karavetsos to Alex Pascucci and Steve Yobaccio gave the Pioneers a 28-7 halftime lead. The surprise return of tri-captain Mike Thomas paid dividends on the Pioneers' first play of the second half when he bolted 76 yards for a score to make it 35-7. That one effectively turned this into a JayVee second half, at least for Lynnfield and the backups acquitted themselves well even against the Georgetown starters.

You can read all the details and see my game photos in the Villager on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, bad news from Hamilton as the Generals battered North Reading 28-14 to take one more step toward the CAL/NEC 4 title.

Not much the Pioneers can do except take care of their own business against Manchester Essex next week and North Reading on Thanksgiving day and hope for Ipswich to go on a run. I'll explain all the details in tomorrow's Leftovers post.

That's it for now. Check back tomorrow for more on the win over the Royals.
