Taking Care of Business

As Backman Turner overdrive once said, the Pioneers were just taking care of business last night as the dispatched the Manchester-Essex Hornets 47-13 at Hyland Field.

This one was blunt force trauma right from the start as the Pioneers bludgeoned the Hornets for nearly 300 yards of offense in the first two quarters alone enroute to a 34-6 halftime lead. No lack of focus there as the Pioneers played their final tuneup in preparation for the Championship Game on Thanksgiving morning.

Interesting score out of North Reading last night as Ipswich nearly pulled off the upset before falling 15-13. Even more intriguing is the fact the the Hornets, who had been running into the endzone with abandon so far, managed only one rushing touchdown. Perhaps the Tigers figured out a way to clip the Single Wing? You can bet the Pioneer coaches will be devouring that game film for hints on how to slow down Carl Lipani, C.J. McCarthy and company in the big game.

You can get my detailed game story and see my color action photos in the Villager on Wednesday and I'll have much more on the M/E game in my Leftovers post tomorrow night.
